Fostering Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Startup Ecosystem, JU’s Udhampur Campus Celebrates National Science Day 2025

Udhampur : The Udhampur Campus of the University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Udhampur, successfully host a One Day Awareness Program on Entrepreneurship Development, Self-Employment Schemes, and Start-Up Policy on the occasion of National Science Day. today On this occasion, Mrs. Meenakshi, Office Associate, and Mr. Yash Paul, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Udhampur, served as the resource persons for the event, which was attended by students and faculty of Udhampur Campus
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office University of Kashmir, Srinagar the program highlighted the critical role that science and technology play in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation across sectors, in keeping with this year’s National Science Day theme of “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” The event’s goal was to inspire and provide youth with the information and resources they need to pursue entrepreneurial endeavours. Expert discussions were held and ideas exchanged on the various government programs for self-employment that focused on the significance of adopting the start-up ecosystem for long-term economic viability.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Meenakshi emphasized the importance of the entrepreneurial era in driving economic growth and fostering entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. She further encouraged students to explore start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures as a means to strengthen the Indian economy in alignment with Viksit Bharat 2047. Viksit Bharat is dedicated to promoting sustainable growth and entrepreneurship as a powerful catalyst for socio-economic development. By organizing such events, Udhampur Campus aims to provide a platform for individuals to network, learn, and take the first step toward realizing their entrepreneurial aspirations.
Later, in the second session, Mr. Yash Paul nurtured and inspired the young minds of the campus to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship by fostering a vibrant and supportive start-up ecosystem in the region. He also highlighted various challenges faced by budding entrepreneurs, such as a lack of awareness, inadequate skills, an insufficient support system, and mindset barriers. Additionally, Yash emphasized several entrepreneurial and skill development programs under RAMP. He further encouraged students and faculty members to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career option alongside other opportunities available in the job market.
Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, Rector, Udhampur Campus, thanked Prof. Umesh Rai, Honb’le, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, for his wholehearted support and encouragement in the academic programs and Campus development. Prof. Sharma also conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to Meenakshi, Office Associate and Yash Paul, DNO, JKEDI, Udhampur, for their exceptional collaboration and coordination with the Udhampur Campus to seamlessly organise the event. Earlier, Pradeep Kumar extended a warm welcome to the resource persons and students and expressed gratitude to Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, Rector of Udhampur Campus, for his continuous motivation and support in encouraging students and staff to organize such educational programs. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Nikhil Khajuria, faculty member at Udhampur Campus.
