Srinagar: Education Minister, Sakeena Itoo on Thursday evening said that the government will hold a meeting in this regard tomorrow.
“Keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions, we are going to hold a meeting tomorrow regarding the extension of winter vacations for schools in Kashmir division,” Itoo said.
The minister further said keeping in view the health and safety of students, they will take a decision accordingly
“If weather conditions do not improve, we may consider five days extension in vacation for primary level classes and in case there is more snowfall, we will consider extending the vacation till March 5 for all classes,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) official said that there is no change in exams slated for Friday.
“As of now, there is no change in schedule for the exams that are slated for Thursday. Tomorrow, we have only one paper for 11th class,” the official said.
Pertinently, the government on December-06 had announced winter vacation for all public and recognised private educational institutions in the Kashmir division as well as in the winter zones of Jammu division in two phases starting from December 10.
Winter vacations for Classes upto 5th primary were announced from December-10-2024 to February 28, 2025.
Similarly for the 6th standard to 12th standard, the vacations were announced from December 16 to February 28, 2025.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department Srinagar had forecasted four-day wet weather with light to moderate rain and snow at most places from February 25 over Jammu and Kashmir
