Police organises awareness progs on New Criminal Laws, Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign in collaboration with civil admin

Srinagar : Police in Handwara in collaboration with civil administration, organized a comprehensive awareness program on the New Criminal Laws and an Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign across multiple locations, including, Govt degree College Vilgam, Lukipora Panchayat Ghar, Bicherwara Darul Uloom, Supernagam Panchayat Ghar, Girls Higher Secondary School Zachaldara, Wooder Bala, and Ucher Magam. Besides, Awantipora Police conducted awareness programmes on new criminal laws at Govt Degree College Awantipora.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar the programmes were attended by Tehsildars, Block Development Officers (BDOs), DySsP, SHOs, and other key officials from various departments, along with students, job card holders and local residents. The initiative aimed to educate the public about the recent changes in criminal laws and raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
During these sessions, legal experts and law enforcement officers elaborated on the new legal provisions, emphasizing citizens’ rights, responsibilities, and the role of law enforcement in ensuring justice and public safety. Additionally, the anti-drug awareness segment focused on the harmful effects of substance abuse, preventive measures, and the importance of community participation in combating the drug menace.
Speaking on the occasions, officials urged the public to stay informed about the law and actively contribute to a drug-free society. They emphasized the role of youth, parents, and educational institutions in spreading awareness and ensuring a safe and law-abiding community.
These events witnessed an interactive session, where attendees raised queries and shared their concerns, which were addressed by legal and police officials.
These programmes concluded with a call for collective responsibility in upholding the law and eradicating drug abuse, with participants expressing their commitment to spreading awareness in their respective areas.
