Theft case solved in Srinagar, accused arrested within hours: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has solved a theft case by arresting the accused for being involved in the commission of crime and also recovered stolen property from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that a Police Station Lal Bazar received a written complaint from one Maqsood Ahmed Baba S/o Ab Ahad Baba R/o Arzan Sahib Sopore A/P Jogi Wan Lal Bazar who alleged therein that an unknown thief barged into his bread shop located in Jogiwan Lal Bazar and stole cash amounting to Rs 34000 and some copper utensils.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 07/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Lal bazar besides initiating further investigation Police in its statement further said that after strenuous efforts and analysis of evidence, the Police team apprehended an accused identified as Asif Majeed Parry S/o Abdul Majeed Parry R/o Waltengoo Kund Kulgam within hours after the commission of crime , adding therein that later during investigation the thief was found guilty of stealing DVR of CCTV cameras installed in a local mosque for the purpose of evading any possibility of disclosure of his identity.
Police in its statement further said that on the disclosure of the said accused the stolen cash amount of ₹33731, DVR Of CCTV Camera of Masjid-e-Rahman, Jogiwan Lal bazar and copper utensils were also recovered, Stating therein that further investigation of the case is in progress.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearby Police unit or Dial-112 without delay so that prompt action against the culprits will be taken, reiterating therein its commitment to Protect protecting people and eliminate social crimes.
