UIET, Kathua Campus (JU) organizes two Expert Lectures on Cybercrime, Cybersecurity, AI, and ML

Kathua : The Department of CSE, UIET, Kathua Campus (JU) successfully organized two insightful expert lectures as part of its Expert Lecture Series. The sessions focused on “Cybercrime and Cybersecurity” and “Unraveling the Complexities: A Deep Dive into AI and ML.” These lectures aimed to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of critical areas in the field of Computer Engineering. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Bhavana Arora, Associate Professor and Dr. Palak Mahajan, Assistant Professor from Department of CSE, Central University of Jammu.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office University of Jammu here Dr. Bhavana Arora in her lecture on “Cybercrime and Cybersecurity” provided an in-depth understanding of various aspects of online threats, hacking techniques, data protection strategies, and the role of cybersecurity professionals in mitigating risks. She also discussed real-world case studies, emphasizing the importance of ethical hacking and cyber laws in safeguarding digital assets. Further she added that the students who are acquiring degrees in Computer Science need to upgrade their skills to internalize the emergence of new frontiers in the digital media security.
Dr. Palak Mahajan in her lecture on “Unraveling the Complexities: A Deep Dive into AI & ML”stressed that a new phase of technological development in terms of Industry is opening floodgates of various frontiers of machine learning. She explored the fundamental concepts, applications, and advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The session provided students with insights into deep learning, neural networks, and the impact of AI-driven innovations across industries. The speaker also shared industry trends and career opportunities in AI and ML, encouraging students to develop skills in these cutting-edge fields.
Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus (JU) appreciated the efforts of organizing such sessions for the benefit of students and emphasized the importance of hosting more innovative sessions on campus. He highlighted how these lectures contribute to students’ academic growth and provide them with insights into real-world challenges and technological advancements. Stressing the need for awareness in these fields, he mentioned that cybercrime and cybersecurity are growing concerns in today’s digital landscape, while artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are shaping the future of technology.
Dr. Rockey Gupta, I/c Principal, UIET extended his gratitude to the expert speakers for their valuable contributions. He acknowledged their efforts in interacting with students and sharing their expertise on these crucial topics. He further remarked that such initiatives align with UIET’s commitment to providing high-quality education and exposure to emerging trends in computer science.
Dr. Pankaj Khajuria, Assistant Registrar and the entire faculty of the department was present during both sessions. The program was conducted by Er. Puneet Kour and coordinated by Er. Rakshit Khajuria. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Er. Jewan jot.
