Shopian : Under WDC – PMKSY 2.0, a mega camp under Watershed Yatra was conducted in Block Chitragam by RDD Shopian on Thursday.
MLA Zainapora while speaking on the occasion highlighted problems faced by the people regarding water shortage in the area and the need to address the water scarcity through joint conservation efforts.
ADDC Shopian spoke in detail about the water scarcity challenges and problems and enumerated the viable solutions to tackle the scarcity.
The dignitaries inaugurated dramatic & sports events, flagged off the van to Imam Sahib block, administered water conservation pledge, conduct plantation drive & video screening.
It is pertinent to mention that the IWMP scheme stresses on creating assets of water conservation at planning, preparatory and evaluation stages.
The scheme has been running in Shopian since 2013 in different blocks under PMKSY 1 and PMKSY 2.
The scheme also included livelihood schemes to enhance the income of marginalised sections of people.
Besides, Self Help Groups, PRIs, WDTs and voluntary organisations and district agencies.
Among others, the event was attended by ACD Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad, Tehsildar Zainapora, BDO Zainapora, Xen REW, other officers and officials and large gathering of public.
