Police secures conviction in NDPS case against four accused in Kulgam

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has secured conviction of four accused namely Mohd Aslam War S/o Ghulam Hassan War R/o Arwani Bijebhara, Mehraj-ud-Din Wani S/o Ghulam Mohammad Wani R/o Nowpora, Kharpora, Waqar Ahmad Dar S/o Mohammad Yaseen Dar R/o Padshahi Bagh Srinagar and Bilal Ahmad Hanji S/o Mohammad Maqbool Hanji R/o Kharpora by virtue of judgment from Court of the Principal Sessions Judge Kulgam on 23rd January followed by Quantum of punishment on 8th February. The above-mentioned accused persons were convicted for the offences under section 8/20, 8/22 read with sec 29 NDPS act in case FIR No 21/2021 of Police Station Yaripora.
Police in its statement further said that the accused were arrested on 26th April 2021, during naka checking by a police party of Police Post Frisal at Kharpora near playground and contraband recovery consists of 100 ML of 36 bottles without label and six bottles with label Cocax-Dx and two polythene bags, containing 130 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession, adding therein that the prosecution presented multiple witnesses and multiple documents to prove the charges against the accused.
Stating that the court after careful consideration of the evidence, found the accused guilty under Section 8/20, 8/22 of the NDPS Act and sentenced them to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment besides a fine of Rs 1,00,000/- each, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulged in anti-social activities will strict be dealt with.
