Jammu: The troops of the Indian Army in retaliation on Sunday exchanged a brief fire with the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control in the Gulpur sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources here said that unprovoked firing started from across the border on the LoC in Gulpur sector, adding, “own troops effectively retaliated to the brief exchange of fire while there was no damage reported on own side.”

On Feb 14, an army jawan sustained injury in a sniper shot suspected to be fired from across the border in the Keri area of Akhnoor sector.

On Feb 10, an army jawan sustained a bullet injury in suspected firing from across the border in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

On Feb 8, Indian troops effectively retaliated to the firing by suspected terrorists along the Line of Control in Rajouri district.

Meanwhile, on the intervening night of February 4 and 5, a major infiltration bid was foiled when a group of suspected terrorists believed to be killed in a landmine explosion on the Line of Control in Battal area of Krishna Ghati Sector in Mendhar area of Poonch district.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed the security scenario in Jammu Division.

The Lieutenant Governor said that focus should be on complete wipe-out of terrorism from the Jammu Division.
