500 Bedded Pediatric Hospital Bemina: A Premier Healthcare Institution

Srinagar : Government Children Hospital Bemina, a 500-bedded hospital, is a premier healthcare institution catering to the population of Kashmir Division, Chenab Valley, Poonch, Rajouri and Ladakh. The hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services to approximately 1200 patients daily in its Outpatient Department (OPD), with around 80-90 admissions in its Inpatient Department (IPD). Additionally, the hospital witnesses a significant footfall of around 6000 people, including patients & attendants
The hospital has highest number of critical care beds in whole J&K, and critical care provided in NICU and PICU is of national and international standard.
The hospital has got fellowship programme for doctors and nurses approved in neonatology and pediatric neurology.
Further to ensure high end critical care free of cost , the government enhanced the fund allocation to the hospital and all very costly drugs like IVIG, ALBUMIN and Surfactant are available free of cost for patients.
It is the only hospital where OPD services are available even on Sunday’s. There is a vibrant programme for congenital anomalies and various disabilities under DEIC and NHM.
The Ayushman Bharat sehat coverage is more than 95 percent for IPD cases.
At present the department of General Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Hematology, Pediatric Microbiology, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Pediatric Radio Diagnosis & Imaging are functional at 500 Bedded Pediatric Hospital.
The hospital has 134 faculty members/specialists, Medical Officers, Senior Residents/PGs across various specialties, including General Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Hematology, Pediatric Microbiology, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Ophthalmology, and Pediatric Radio Diagnosis & Imaging.
The hospital is having adequate para medical staff including lab Technician, Nursing officers, Technical staff, sanitation staff,and outsourced security personal.
The hospital has a faculty strength comprising 06 Professors, 06 Associate Professors, 08 Assistant Professors, 03 Consultants, 23 Medical Officers, 32 Senior Residents, 02 Fellows, and 54 Postgraduates.
Currently only one Associate professor is eligible for promotion to the post of Professor and orders in his favour will be issued very shortly.
The Pediatric Surgery Department at the hospital operates on all days, including emergency surgeries. The department has been performing complex surgeries, including neonatal surgeries, which has been a big relief for patients. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and a team of experienced surgeons who provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients.
To address the faculty vacancies, the hospital has advertised vacant posts of Assistant Professors in various disciplines, including Neonatology, Pediatric Biochemistry, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Orthopedics, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Pediatric Neurology. The selection process for these positions is currently underway, however, the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir has kept the selection process in abeyance for engagement of Assistant Professors.
The hospital has also advertised vacant Senior Residents positions, and the selection process is currently underway. The selection process is expected to be completed within two weeks.
The hospital remains committed to providing quality healthcare services to its patients and is working to fill the vacant faculty positions to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services. The hospital is taking all necessary steps to expedite the recruitment process and ensure that the patients receive the best possible care.
