Police organises awareness Progs on New Criminal Laws in Kupwara, Handwara

Srinagar : Police organized awareness programmes on three new criminal laws in Kupwara and PD Handwara.
In Kupwara, an awareness programme on New Criminal Laws was conducted at Women Police Station Kupwara. The event was attended by DySP DAR Kupwara, DySP(P) Goldy Sharma, DySP(P) Shivek Sharma, SHO Women’s Police Station, and representatives from the Women’s Cell Kupwara. Women from different backgrounds participated in the session, where officers detailed key legal changes, particularly regarding enhanced protections for women, stricter punishments for sexual offenses, laws addressing false promises of marriage, cybercrime regulations, and procedural safeguards for victims.
The participants were encouraged to seek police assistance without hesitation and were assured of the department’s continued commitment to women’s safety and empowerment. Kupwara Police reiterated its dedication to strengthening community-oriented policing, addressing public grievances effectively, and ensuring legal awareness among all sections of society.
Besides, in Handwara, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shri Hamid Ali organized an awareness program on the newly introduced criminal laws at Higher Secondary School Qalamabad. The event witnessed active participation from students, social welfare workers, and local residents, aiming to enhance legal awareness within the community.
During the session, SDPO Handwara provided detailed insights into key amendments in criminal laws, emphasizing their significance in ensuring justice, security, and accountability. The program covered essential topics such as legal rights, law enforcement procedures, and measures to prevent crime, fostering a better understanding of the legal framework among attendees.
The interactive session allowed students and social welfare workers to engage in discussions, ask questions, and share their perspectives on legal issues affecting society. The SDPO encouraged community members to stay informed and work collaboratively with law enforcement agencies to uphold law and order.
