Srinagar : Police organized ‘Thana Diwas’ functions in various police establishments across valley including district Srinagar, Kupwara, Budgam & PD Handwara. These meetings were chaired by respective supervisory & jurisdictional Police officers. These meetings were attended by respectable citizens, civil societies of concerned areas, including members of Auqaf Committees, Panchayti Raj members, Religious Preachers, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation and Transporters etc.
In the meetings the participants highlighted various issues of public importance. During these events, all the grievances were heard and were segregated on the basis of area of action and jurisdiction. The attendees were assured that all the grievances pertaining to Police department will be dealt as per the law and remaining grievances lying outside the domain of Police department will be taken up with the concerned authorities under laid down procedure.
During these meetings, the cooperation of general public in eradication of drug abuse, social crimes etc were sought. Participants were stressed upon to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment.
