JKBOSE organizes awareness prog on Open Schooling, centrally sponsored Scholarship Schemes at B’pora

Bandipora : In a bid to promote accessible education for all, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), in collaboration with the Education Department Bandipora, on Wednesday organized a comprehensive awareness programme on the Open Schooling system and centrally sponsored scholarship schemes at the Mini Secretariat, Bandipora.
The event was presided over by Dr. Arif Jan, Deputy Director Academics JKBOSE, and was attended by Assistant Director JKBOSE Dr. Aliya Qayoom, Deputy CEO Bandipora, Dr.G.M.Pujoo, along with principals, ZEOs, HOIs of various institutions, parents, and other concerned stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Arif Jan discussed various aspects of open schooling, emphasizing its importance in supporting out of school children. He outlined how the Open Schooling system can provide an alternative chance for these children to continue their education, thus contributing to the goal of universalization of elementary education.
Dr. Arif Jan also elaborated on the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) in shaping a more inclusive education system, in alignment with the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring quality and equitable education for all.
He also spoke about several key educational reforms, including SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan), RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan), and samagra Shiksha, highlighting the critical role they play in achieving educational equity.
Dr.Arif also deliberated on the importance of enhancing the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), emphasizing that increasing the GER is crucial to ensuring that more children have access to quality education.
Dr. Aliya Qayoom, Assistant Director JKBOSE, presented insights into the various centrally sponsored scholarship schemes available for students. She underscored the importance of spreading awareness about these scholarships to ensure that all eligible students have the opportunity to benefit from financial assistance in their academic journey.
Earlier welcome address was presented by DyCEO Bandipora Dr. G. M. Pujoo while as vote of thanks was presented by Zonal Education Officer, Zone Quilmuqam.
