Jammu : Police in Jammu on Wednesday said that a team from Police Station Bakshi Nagar arrested four gamblers and also seized playing cards along with stake money in a raid near Shamshad Ghat, Shakti Nagar, Jammu.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office Jammu, police said that acting on receiving inputs Inspector Azad Manhas (SHO Bakshi Nagar) along with his team conducted a raid at the specified location and caught the accused red-handed while they were gambling inside a car. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rahul Kular, S/O Shamsher Lal, R/O Lower Shiv Nagar, Jammu, Lucky, S/O Tilak Raj, resident of Gurdaspur, presently living in Toph Sherkhania, Jammu, Gurnam, S/O Mukhtar, R/O Bakshi Nagar, Jammu and Thomas, S/O Sardool Massi, R/O Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. “During the operation, Rs. 11,400 in stake money and playing cards were recovered from the possession of the said accused besides which vehicle (JK02BH-0984) used by the accused and a bike (JK02BR-3567) were also seized”, reads the Police Statement. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Jammu Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintain law and order, urging therein people to report such illegal activities. The SDPO City West emphasized that all such information from the people will ensure a safer and crime-free Jammu and assured that identity of informants will be kept confidential.
