Govt Unani Medical College G’bal celebrates World Unani Day

Ganderbal: Govt Unani Medical College Ganderbal celebrated World Unani Day with great enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of Unani medicine in integrating ancient healing practices with modern healthcare.
The event brought together esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals to acknowledge the contributions of Unani medicine in holistic wellness and preventive care.
World Unani Day is celebrated on February 11 every year to honour the birth anniversary of Hakim Ajmal Khan, a renowned Unani practitioner, scholar, and visionary.
Recognized as the pioneer of Unani medicine in India, Hakim Ajmal Khan played a vital role in the revival and development of this traditional system of medicine.
This day serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the benefits of Unani medicine and its relevance in contemporary healthcare
Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar who also holds the charge of Unani Medical College Ganderbal, attended the celebration as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion she emphasized the relevance of Unani medicine in contemporary healthcare and reiterated that GUMC Ganderbal is committed to advancing research and education in this field, ensuring that traditional wisdom is effectively integrated with scientific advancements.
The celebration featured a series of insightful discussions, interactive sessions, and presentations by experts in the field of Unani medicine.
Faculty members and students showcased their ongoing research and innovations, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based approaches in traditional medicine. The event also included awareness programs aimed at educating the public on the benefits of Unani medicine and its role in holistic healthcare.
The function was attended by Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Administrator Associated Hospitals, Dr. Nadia, Accounts Officer, Dr. Shabir Gafari, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Mohammad Abdullah Wagay, Administrative Officer, and faculty members, resident medical officers, students, and paramedical staff.
