Seminar on Punjabi poetry, culture organised at GDC Ramgarh

Samba : Government Degree College (GDC) Ramgarh, in collaboration with the Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), organized a one-day seminar on Punjabi poetry and culture.
The literary event was hosted under the guidance and supervision of the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra.
The event began with an insightful introductory lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Snobar, Head of the Department, Punjabi. The seminar was attended by ), Secretary, JKAACL Harvinder Kaur; Sr. Editor Sheeraza Punjabi (JKAACL) Dr. Sukhwinder Singh; Eminent Punjabi Critic Popinder Singh Paras; Senior Journalist/writer Jang S. Verman and Dr. Lekh Raj.
Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra welcomed the guests and participants to the seminar. The inaugural session highlighted the significance of organizing such seminars to promote the Punjabi language, literature, and culture in particular and other local languages in general. The speakers emphasized the unique sweetness and impact of the Punjabi language and discussed the growth of Punjabi literature in J&K and the importance of sustaining and popularizing it across the region.
In her address, JKAACL Secretary Harvinder Kaur stressed the importance of reviving traditional languages for the younger generation. “In the future, our aim is to conduct more seminars that will provide opportunities to the youth to showcase their talents,” she asserted.
The event included a vibrant poetry recitation session, where writers presented their poetry, celebrating the rich heritage of Punjabi language and culture. The participants, including college students, also recited poems during the event. Among the notable speakers who shared their poetic works were Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, Jang S. Verman, Dr. Lekh Raj, and Dr. Snobar.
At the end of the programme, a lively cultural program, featuring Gidda and Bhangra, was presented by the students showcasing the vibrant tradition of Punjab.
Convener of the literary club Dr. Snobar conducted the event along with the other members. The programme was attended by Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Ashok Kumar (PTI), Prof. Brham Dutt, Dr. Shivali Pnajgotra, Dr. Neeraj, Priya Sharma, Anjali and Vikas and students of the college. Popinder Singh Paras Sr., Editor of Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL, conducted the proceedings of the event.
