Reasi : Member Legislative Assembly, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Constituency Baldev Raj Sharma on Monday visited Government Higher Secondary School Katra to take stock of developmental works sanctioned for the School.
Accompanied by Executive Engineer, PWD Division Katra Shakti Kumar Raina along with other staff, the MLA resolved the long pending issue regarding the site identification for additional accommodation, including staff residential quarters and two rooms in the school premises. The MLA issued on-spot directions to the concerned department to proceed further in this regard.
It was informed that the staff quarters for the school were sanctioned in the year 2022-23 at an estimated cost of Rs. 74.00 lakh, while construction of two changing rooms and leveling of the school ground were sanctioned in the year 2020-21 at a cost of Rs 20 lakh.
Additionally, the MLA issued directions to stakeholder departments to submit DPR for removing a big tree on the backside boundary of the school which may damage the school building in future. Moreover, the directions were also issued to submit DPRs for leveling and terracing at the back side of the school and for the construction of the girls toilet block after dismantling the old girls toilet block and cleaning & tiling of existing water tank at the lower most terrace.
