Kupwara : The Agriculture Department Kupwara on Monday organized a district-level seminar on the “Transformation of Beekeeping” at the Town Hall, Kupwara.
The seminar, aimed at promoting the growth and sustainability of the beekeeping industry, was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan.
The event brought together local farmers, beekeepers, and experts from the agriculture sector to discuss innovative methods, challenges, and opportunities in modern beekeeping.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of beekeeping for boosting agricultural productivity, enhancing biodiversity, and promoting sustainable farming practices in the region.
Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Commissioner emphasized the vital role that beekeeping plays in the district’s agricultural ecosystem.
She said that more than 30000 applications have been received in the district under HADP which signifies the motivation of the youth towards generating their livelihood under the Agriculture sector.
She highlighted different sources of income under Bee Keeping sector which benefits its growers and Agri-entrepreneurs. She emphasized the need for promotion and branding of the honey products made in the Kupwara district which will boost the industry.
The Chief Agriculture Officer and experts from the Agriculture department also highlighted the schemes for promoting the honey industry in the district.
The seminar also provided a platform for experts to share their knowledge on advanced beekeeping techniques, pest management, and honey production processes.
Various stakeholders discussed government schemes and support available to farmers to encourage the growth of this sector.
The event witnessed active participation, with several beekeepers sharing their experiences and success stories.
The Agriculture Department also announced plans for further training and workshops to equip local farmers with the skills needed to adopt innovative beekeeping practices.
The seminar is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to support sustainable agriculture and improve the livelihoods of local farmers.
