“The Congress-AAP fighting if not controlled and contained can lead to the exit of Kejriwal led AAP from the INDIA bloc the Congress led grand opposition alliance which has already come under huge stress after its rout in Harayana and Mahrashtra states.”

The huge debacle to Arwind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in just concluded in Delhi Assembly elections is undoubtedly a blow to the fragmented opposition the unity of which has come under a more severe threat amid return of BJP to power in the Union Capital Delhi after a long gap of 27 years. The acrimonies between Kejriwal led AAP and Congress are scaling to new heights with Congress claiming defection of some AAP MLAs in Punjab and AAP refuting the claims subsequently. The Congress-AAP fighting if not controlled and contained can lead to the exit of Kejriwal led AAP from the INDIA bloc the Congress led grand opposition alliance which has already come under huge stress after its rout in Harayana and Mahrashtra states. With BJP retaining power in two bigger states like Haryana and Mahrashtra besides wresting power in Union Capital Delhi from Kejriwal led AAP a key constituent of INDIA Bloc in less than six months after last year’s Lok Sabha election the unity of INDIA Bloc and as well as the future of Kejriwal led AAP has come under a huge strain. While the decision of Arwind Kejriwal to go it alone in Delhi assembly elections instead of agreeing to a seat sharing agreement with Congress cost his party not only a loss of 13 seats but also loss of power in Delhi the Congress too did not perform better on its own by drawing a blank for the second time in last ten years in Delhi. Undoubtedly defeat to Kejriwal and his onetime Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is attributed to their alleged involvement in corruption cases like Delhi liquor scam. Similarly the failure of the Congress to open its account in just concluded Delhi assembly polls shows the party’s inability to recover the lost ground even after a gap of ten years in the Union Capital.

“With relations of Congress coming under huge strain with allies like Kejriwal led AAP in Delhi and Punjab and Mamta Benerjee led Trinamool in West Bengal the Congress led grand alliance INDIA is virtually in a state of existential crisis . In the emerging political scenario it seems that only a miracle can keep the sinking boat of INDIA Bloc afloat in the muddy waters of politics.”

In the fast changing political scenario AAP is a party that failed to live upto its promises on corruption free Government after securing a consecutive second term in 2019 and henceforth its reputation of becoming a national alternative to BJP has come under huge stress. Similarly Congress too does not show the strength and courage to recover from back to back losses in last more than ten years in majority of the states and union territories of the country. With relations of Congress coming under huge strain with allies like Kejriwal led AAP in Delhi and Punjab and Mamta Benerjee led Trinamool in West Bengal the Congress led grand alliance INDIA is virtually in a state of existential crisis . In the emerging political scenario it seems that only a miracle can keep the sinking boat of INDIA Bloc afloat in the muddy waters of politics.
