Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kupwara and Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police team of Police Post Bazaar at a checkpoint established at Geerhati Kupwara intercepted two suspects identified as Sameer Ahmad Zargar S/o Bashir Ahmad Zargar R/o Tiker Kupwara and Sachin Koul S/o Suresh Koul R/o Nagrota Jammu as they were spotted roaming in a suspicious manner and during search, 7.13 grams of Brown Sugar-like substance was recovered from their possession.
Stating that in Sopore, a Police team of Police Station Bomai, during patrolling at Nathipora Tujjer Shareef Road intercepted a suspect identified as Javaid Ahmad Wani S/o Abdul Subhan Wani R/o Palihar Tujjer Shareef and during search 5 grams of Heroine-like substance were recovered from his possession.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that cases under relevant sections of NDPS Act were registered at concerned police stations besides initiating further investigations .
