Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested six persons for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora and also seized a boat in Pampore area.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Pampore seized one boat being used for illegal extraction and transportation of sand from river Jhelum at Pampore and arrested six persons for being involved in the commission of crime. Police in its statement identified the said accused as Ishfaq Hussain Ganie S/o Ali Mohammad, Rizwan Ali Ganie S/o Mohammad Ibraheem, Rouf Hussain Matto S/o Gh Mohammad, Tahir Hussain Ganie S/o Altaf Hussain, Aijaz Hussain Khan S/o Gazanfar Ali and Waheed Hussain S/o Mohd Akbar Kutho, all residents of Shalina Budgam.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 13/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pampore besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
