KU shines at 38th North Zone inter-university youth festival

Srinagar: The University of Kashmir (KU) demonstrated its cultural and artistic excellence by securing eight awards at the 38th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival, organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and hosted by Panjab University, Chandigarh.
According to a statement issued from Centre for Public Relations University of Kashmir, the contingent comprising 46 students from the varsity`s main and satellite campuses as well as from its affiliated and constituent colleges showcased its brilliant performance in various categories, including theatre, fine arts, literature, music, and folk dance at the North Zone inter-university youth festival.
Vice Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, congratulated the students and mentors for their outstanding performance. “This achievement reflects the university’s dedication to promote creativity and cultural excellence. Our students have made us proud and we wish them success at the upcoming National Youth Festival,” she said.
Dean, Students Welfare KU, Prof. Pervaiz Ahmad, also praised the contingent, saying, “The passion and dedication of our students has earned them well-deserved recognition. Their success at this prestigious event is an inspiration for the entire university community.”
Cultural Officer KU, Dr. Shahid Ali Khan who led the contingent said, “This achievement showcases the exceptional talent of our students. We are honored to represent the northern zone at the National Youth Festival.”
The students secured the awards in the following categories – poster making: Saroosh (IFMA, 4th position); clay modelling: Suhail Khan (IMFA, 3rd position); spot photography: Owais Amin (Department of Law, 5th position); mehendi design: Hena Shah (Department of Law, 2nd position); western vocal solo: Tazain Mehmood (Department of Psychology, 5th position); western instrumental solo: Asif Fayaz (IMFA, 5th position); quiz (4th position): Mohammad Miraan Qureshi (SSM College), Muhammad Asif (Department of Law), Farhana Fayaz (Islamia College) ; elocution: Aliya Ali (Department of Political Science, 4th position).
Suhail Khan and Hena Shah from KU will now represent the northern region and compete at the National Youth Festival in clay modelling and mehendi design at Amity University, Noida in March 2025.
