2 drug peddlers held in B’la, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Uri headed by SHO Police Post Uri at a checkpoint established at Lari Daragutliyan intercepted a suspect identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Awan S/o Abdul Aziz R/o Daragutliyan and during search recovered 16.2 Kgs of Cannabis Powder like substances from the possession of the said accussion.
Police in its statement further said that a Police party of Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Khanpora Bridge intercepted a suspect identified as Rashid Ahmad Lone S/o Abdul Jaleel R/o Gantamulla Colony and during search recovered 98 grams of Charas like substances from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that all the accused were arrested and cases under relevant sections of law were also been registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society , reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
