The event, attended by students, teachers, parents, and media representatives, was inaugurated by Sh. Som Nath, Officiating Commandant of 13 Bn SSB, Dignibal. In his address, he stressed the importance of a united effort from parents, teachers, and community leaders to address the critical issue of drug addiction. He also highlighted the role of the SSB in safeguarding the community not just from external threats, but also from internal challenges like substance abuse.
Supported by the SEEKS NGO, Ganderbal, the event was part of the “Udaan Say No to Drugs” campaign, focusing on educating and empowering youth to make positive life choices and promote a drug-free lifestyle. The program included speeches from key local figures, including Sh. Bashir Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer, Ganderbal, Smt. Rumisa Sangeen, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Ganderbal, and Sh. Shah Aijaz, a renowned journalist. The event also featured a cultural performance by the Rishi Cultural Forum, which presented a folk song and a skit to reinforce the message of living drug-free. The program concluded with a pledge from all participants to work towards achieving a Nasha Mukt (Drug-Free) India, with students requesting more such awareness initiatives in the future.
