Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Pulwama Police arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint established at Parigam and later on identified him as Mohd Amin Bhat S/o Mohd Akbar Bhat R/o Wanpora, adding therein that 3.5 Kgs of Charas Powder-like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that in a similar action in Shopian also a Police party from Police Post Wachi established a checkpoint at Wachi intercepted a drug peddler identified as Aabid Ahmad Bhat Son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Ganiepora Wachi, Police in its statement further said that during search, 4.300 Kgs of grinded Cannabis and 672 grams of Charas Powder were recovered from the possession of the said accused, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law was registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it for curbing the menace of drug abuse.
