Udhampur hosting Resham Kissan Mela on Feb 8, Director Sericulture reviews arrangements

Jammu: Director Sericulture Department J&K Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Tuesday chaired a meeting at the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department, Camp Office, Jammu, to review the preparations and arrangements for the upcoming Resham KissanMela, scheduled to be held on 8thFebruary, 2025 in District Udhampur.
The Resham Kissan Mela is being organized with the objective of disseminating awareness among Silkworm Rearers and farmers about the latest advancements in the field, offering them a platform to gain firsthand knowledge from experts and scientists from the Central Silk Board and the Department of Sericulture. The event will feature exhibitions, live demonstrations, and stalls showcasing various sericulture products, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all attendees.
During the meeting, the Director emphasized the need for effective coordination and meticulous planning to make the event a success. He directed the officers to put in place all arrangements in the KissanMela and ensure adequate logistics, technical sessions, and farmer interactions, to maximize the benefits for the farming community.
The ReshamKissanMela aims to educate and empower Silkworm Rearers, Farmers, youth and women folk by introducing them to modern technologies, scientific rearing techniques, and sustainable sericultural practices. Experts from the field will provide hands-on training and guidance on improving productivity and quality in sericulture.
A special highlight of the mela will be the felicitation of progressive sericulture farmers, recognizing their contributions and achievements in the sector. The event will also serve as a networking opportunity for farmers, industry stakeholders, and experts, fostering knowledge exchange and skill enhancement.
The Sericulture Department cordially invites all stakeholders, including Silkworm farmers, youth, women, agricultural experts, and the general public, to actively participate in the ReshamKissanMela. This initiative aligns with the department’s vision of promoting sericulture as a viable and sustainable livelihood option in the region.
