Srinagar : The residents of Mustafabad in the Shalteng area of Srinagar city on Friday staged a protest demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD) over the shortage of drinking water facility in the area.
The grieved residents blocked the Srinagar-Baramulla highway for some time and demanded immediate restoration of water supply. The protesting residents said that the entire population of the Mustafabad area is reeling under water shortage for last two months and subsequently they are facing immense hardships.
“The authorities are acting as mute spectators to our sufferings. This forced us to stage the protest,” said one of the protestor.
The concerned residents have urged the administration, to intervene into the matter and ensure that they get adequate water supply.
Meanwhile, the officials of the Jal Shakti Department later visited the spot and assured the protesting people that the issue will be resolved at the earliest. Later the protestors dispersed peacefully.
