6 gamblers arrested in Awantipora, stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested six gamblers in Awantipora and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities at Bahu Awantipora, a Police team of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora raided the specific spot and arrested the six gamblers identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Ab Hameed Khan, Mohd Afzal Sheikh, Wazarqt Ahmad Dhobi, Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Bahu Awantipora. Besides, the the stake money of ₹500/- and playing cards have also been seized from their possession.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 21/2025 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per the law.
