DLSA G’bal organises awareness prog on Sexual Harassment of Women at workplace

Ganderbal : District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal in collaboration with District Administration, Ganderbal organized a legal awareness program on the Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) (POSH) Act, 2013 on Thursday, at Tehsil Office Complex Wakura.
The event was held under the supervision of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Ganderbal and guidance of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, aimed to provide safe and secure environment for women at workplace.
Advocate Sajid Irfan, Deputy Legal Defense Counsel Ganderbal, delivered an insightful speech, elaborated on the legal framework of Act and also highlighted the object of POSH Act.
He said the Act is applicable to all women irrespective of their age or employment status, working in organised or unorganised sector and the Act casts an obligation upon every employer to create an environment which is free from sexual harassment.
He explained the procedure for filing complaints under the POSH Act in detail, empowering participants to take action against sexual harassment.
Advocate, Asif Mustafa, emphasized the importance of the POSH Act in creating a safe and equitable work environment for women and encouraged proactive measures for its implementation. He added that POSH act has undoubtedly laid a strong foundation for workplace safety.
He emphasized the need for participants to spread awareness about the POSH Act among their colleagues, promoting a culture of respect and safety in the workplace and added that the Ministry has developed an online complaint management system titled the Sexual Harassment electronic–Box (SHe-Box, www.shebox.nic.in) for registering complaints related to sexual harassment of women at workplace.
The event was also attended by the Tehsildar Wakura, Officials of Rural Development Department, Health Department, Staff members of various schools and PLVs (Adhikar Mitras) of DLSA, Ganderbal.
