Srinagar President Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has called upon J&K’s all mainstream political parties to fight unitedly fir restoration of Article 370 reminding them that Statehood will be sooner or later restored to Jammu and Kashmir as per the commitment of the Prime Minister and Home Minister both within and outside the parliament. He said as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to restore statehood the main opposition at the centre Congress Party has made a historical commitment on Article 370 in the 1975 Indira-Abdullah agreement that led to return of late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah to power in 1975.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Hakeem said that statehood restoration is the commitment of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah both on the floor of the parliament and as well as in the Supreme Court of the country. Conveying it to the mainstream political parties that Statehood will be restored sooner or later as per the commitments of the political top brass of the country Hakeem called upon the mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to completely focus their struggle on restoration of Article 370 denied flatly by the incumbent Central Government. He said talking about Statehood restoration without pressing hard for restoration of Article 370 is an attempt of the J&K’s mainstream political parties to divert the attention of the people from the cause of a bigger struggle against Article 370 abrogation that led to repeal of many historical laws of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state and withdrawal of J&K cadre of All India Services making Jammu and Kashmir part of AGMUT cadre. He said restoration of J&K’s distinct identity does not lie in Statehood restoration only but in restoration Article 370, return of erstwhile J&K cadre of All India Services and many historical laws of erstwhile J&K State withdrawn from it after Article 370 abrogation. Reminding grand old opposition party Congress of it’s historical commitment on Article 370 in 1975 Indira-Abdullah agreement Hakeem called upon the top leadership of the Congress Party to revisit 1975 Indira-Abdullah agreement and respect the commitment of its great leader Indira Gandhi now when Article 370 has been taken away from J&K by Modi led BJP Government.
