Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a team of Police Post Urdu Bazar at a checkpoint established at Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar arrested a drug peddler namely Owais Mushtaq Dar S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar R/o Sheikh Mohalla, SR Gunj and during search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 05/2025 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Maharaj Gunj and investigation set into motion.
Police said that during the course of investigation, while working on the forward linkages, another drug peddler namely Momin Bilal Kanu S/o Bilal Ahmad Kanu R/o Banday Kocha, Maharaj Gunj was identified and during search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession. Besides, both the accused persons have been arrested and further investigation into the case is going on.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured people that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
