Jammu : Police in Jammu on Saturday said that during a routine naka checking a suspects was arrested by it as he was in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition in Miran Sahib.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office Jammu, Police said that a team from Police Station Miran Sahib, led by Police Sub Inspector Sandeep Kumar Raju, under the guidance of the SHO and the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura, intercepted Piyush Sharma S/O Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Brij Nagar, Miran Sahib, adding therein that during the search police recovered a desi katta (country-made pistol) and a live cartridge from the possession of the said accused. Stating that a case under FIR No. 15/2025 has been registered under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act, Police in its statement further said that investigation is going on to determine the source of the weapon and any possible connections to criminal activities.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police in its statemer said that the operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters, Jammu, as part of the police’s efforts to combat illegal arms possession and ensure public safety, appealing therein people to report any suspicious activities to their nearest police station to assist in maintaining law and order.
