Srinagar: Brigadier (Retd) Anil Gupta, on Saturday, praised Jammu and Kashmir’s cricket team for their remarkable achievement in defeating the star-studded Mumbai team in their own backyard.
“Beating Ranji champions Mumbai in their own den is no small feat. Kudos to the J&K team, coaching, and support staff for scripting this historic victory. It was a splendid display of fast bowling by our pace trio,” he said.
Gupta also shared a special moment when cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar walked up to the J&K team’s manager to personally congratulate them. “Incidentally, both Indian test openers were also Mumbai’s openers. It was a memorable occasion,” he added.
He commended the team’s exceptional teamwork, saying, “This sterling victory is a result of excellent teamwork and the dedicated hard work of every team member. My sincere compliments to the cricket fraternity of J&K and all sports lovers who will cherish this historic win.” Gupta concluded with his best wishes to the team for the upcoming knockout stage of the tournament.
