Jammu : Under the ongoing Swachhtantra Campaign, a series of impactful activities were organized across Jammu city on Friday to promote cleanliness, sustainability, and community participation. These events, held on the eve of Republic Day, emphasized collective responsibility in making Jammu a cleaner and greener city.
The day’s highlight was a Plantation Drive conducted across all 75 wards of the city. The main event took place at Hari Singh Park, where MLA, (Jammu East) Yudhvir Sethi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Dr Devansh Yadav, Joint Commissioner (H&S), Abdul Star and other senior officers were also present.
Together, they inaugurated the plantation initiative by planting 76 saplings, symbolizing the commitment to environmental conservation.
Simultaneously, a Plog Run was organized in the Gujjar Nagar area. This unique activity aimed to raise awareness about cleanliness and sanitation issues among the residents. Participants actively engaged in collecting litter while running, highlighting the importance of personal contribution to keeping public spaces clean. The event also included a Swachhta Pledge, where residents committed to prioritizing cleanliness in their locality to positively impact the city as a whole.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Devansh emphasized the significance of public participation in achieving the vision of a cleaner Jammu. “While JMC is putting its best efforts to maintain cleanliness, we need the active involvement of citizens to make a real difference. Cleanliness is a combined effort, and together, we can achieve remarkable results,” he stated during an interactive session with the Gujjar Nagar residents.
The Swachhtantra Campaign continues to inspire citizens to embrace sustainable practices and contribute actively to the well-being of their community. As Jammu celebrates Republic Day, these initiatives serve as a reminder of the power of collective action in shaping a brighter future for the city.
