JU celebrates National Tourism Day with a fusion of Culture and Creativity

Jammu : The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), jointly with the Heritage and Tourism Club, UTSAAH, University of Jammu, organized an engaging and vibrant event to celebrate National Tourism Day. The event featured a blend of intellectual stimulation and cultural creativity, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across the University.
According to a statement issued from public Relations Office University of Jammu here, the competitive event ‘Dogra Fusion Fiesta: The Exotic Food Mélange Competition’ was aimed to highlight the rich heritage of Dogra cuisine, blending tradition with innovation. A total of 15 teams from various departments of the University came together to showcase their culinary creativity. The team represented by Metali, Shahid and Mehnaz from ICccR&HRM won the first prize followed by the team from SHTM represented by Farishta, Vidushi and Danish who stood second and the team comprising of Vishav, Raghav and Sarika from Department of Commerce won the third prize. The Judges for the competition were Mr. Jaskaran Singh, Owner Bamboo Kitchen, Dr. Chef Sanjay Jamwal, Corporate Executive Chef, K.C Group of Hotels and Dr. Rajinder Singh, Lecturer Food Craft Institute, Jammu
Earlier during the day an in-house quiz competition focusing on diverse perspective of tourism and travel sector was conducted for BBA (HM) and MBA (HT) students. Mr. Ashmit Jandial, Director, In and Get World, Gurgaon was the quiz master. The team represented by Agreema Sharma and Janvi Mahajan won the quiz competition
Prof. Anil Gupta, Director, SHTM in his address said that, in line with the vision of the Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai, the department is committed to create opportunities for the students that sharpen their creative skills. Prof. Prakash Anthal, Dean of Student Welfare and Convener, UTSAAH, appreciated the efforts of students and their participation in the club activity. Dr. Suvidha Khanna, Coordinator of Heritage & Tourism Club, UTSAAH said that through various activities, the Heritage & Tourism Club is committed to promote the cultural heritage of the Jammu region.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Poonam Sharma, Dr. Nikita Dogra, Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Dr. Honeyka Mahajan, Mr. Tapas Tandon and Ms. Taniya. The event was conducted by Tanishka, Tannu, Bhavna, Sandeep, Naman, Arinut, Shoaib, Ayesha, Shubra, Lakshya, Swaran, Himanshu, Basharat, Shivans, Tavanjot & Navneet.
