CDOE, DECC organize Job Fair at JU

Jammu : The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Jammu, in collaboration with the District Employment and Counselling Centre, Model Career Centre, Jammu, successfully organised a Job Fair today. The event, inaugurated in the Committee Room of CDOE, aimed to bridge the gap between education and employment by connecting students with top employers.
Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Prof. B.K. Bajaj, Dean Placement, attended as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Director CDOE, led this initiative, which provided a platform for undergraduate, postgraduate, B.Ed., and diploma students to explore diverse career opportunities.
During her address, Prof. Anju Bhasin commended CDOE for organizing this meaningful event. She highlighted that the Job Fair aligns with the new UGC-DEB guidelines, which emphasize integrating career opportunities with academic programs to enhance employability, particularly for distance and online learners. She further suggested making the Job Fair an annual feature of the University.
Prof. Pankaj Srivastava emphasized the mutual benefits of these events for students and employers, providing a platform for interaction and counseling based on individual strengths.
Prof. Sandeep Tandon, Director CIQA, welcomed participants and reiterated the importance of empowering learners through such initiatives.
Mr. Mukhsil Ali, JKAS, Assistant Director, District Employment and Counselling Centre, encouraged students to explore opportunities in the private sector, citing the saturation of government jobs and the need for a mindset shift toward private employment.
Dr. Jaspal Singh, Convener Placement Cell, CDOE, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, participating organizations, and CDOE officials for their support in making the event a success.
The Job Fair attracted participation from 15 leading companies across India, offering students a chance to explore various roles and industries. A total of 565 candidates registered, with 14 securing on-the-spot placements and 214 shortlisted for second-round interviews.
