Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four gamblers in Kulgam and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on a specific inputs about gambling activities at Humshali Bugh, a police party led by SHO Police Station Yaripora raided the spot and on seeing the police party gamblers identified as Haroon Rashid S/o Abdul Rashid Malik, Liyaqat Hussain S/o Mohd Hussain Malik, Saqib Ahmad Mochi S/o Reyaz Ahmad Mochi all residents of Yaripora and Jehangir Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Ahsan Dar R/o Kujjar, Frisal tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search stake money of ₹80000/- & playing cards were recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of gambling Act was registered at Police Station Yaripora besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be strictly dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
