Kishtwar : To promote PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited Kishtwar on Wednesday organized an awareness camp for government officials of the district about the importance of utilizing non-conventional sources of energy.
The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajesh Kumar Shavan.
The event aimed to promote rooftop solar installations and spread awareness about the scheme’s benefits among officers and employees of the District. AEE Sudheer Sharma, while giving a PowerPoint presentation, said that the scheme offers 1KW to 10 KW rooftop solar setups for the consumers eligible to avail the scheme.
He highlighted that the initiative would help reduce monthly electricity bills of households and mentioned that the subsidy components range from Rs. 38,000 up to Rs. 94,800 depending on the capacity of the equipment opted by the consumer. He also shared plans to organise similar awareness camps across various blocks.
The DC, while addressing the gathering, encouraged officers and govt employees from across the District. The DC also shared a slogan on the occasion: “Let our officers and employees be smart enough to use solar electricity.”
For facilitating the registration, a district-level control room will be established at the headquarters, comprising members from JPDCL, vendors, and the DC office. Additionally, control rooms will also be set up at the tehsil and block levels to assist consumers and raise awareness about the scheme.
The DC also directed all bank authorities to fast track the process and clear the cases related to the scheme within 24 hours. The DC mentioned that the scheme would be implemented in all 136 panchayats, including the 13 model panchayats of the district.
The DC set a timeline of 4 days for all officers/DDOs to register their employees for the scheme, 10 days for field staff, and 15 days for frontline workers. The DC also directed JPDCL authorities to provide house-to-house registration facilities.
It was further informed that a training camp for the scheme is going to be organized at Jammu from 14th January for ITI students, where they will be trained in the installation of rooftop set up, providing them a lucrative career option.
The awareness camp was attended by CPO Kishtwar Shahnawaz Bali, ACD Kishtwar Phulail Singh, AD FCS & CA Kishtwar Shafqat Ali Keen, Dy. Registrar Cooperative/EO MC Kishtwar Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, AD Handicrafts, ExEn JPDCL Kishtwar, CHO Kishtwar, DYSSO Kishtwar, along with other district officers and banking representatives.
