3 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla, Budgam and Handwara and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Chak Limber, Boniyar intercepted a suspect identified as Gh Nabi Dar S/o Late Mohd Subhan R/o Babagail Limber and during search recovered 50 grams of contraband charas like substances from his possession.
Police in its statement further said that In Budgam also, a police party of Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at Durbugh near Higher Secondary School Chadoora, intercepted a suspicious vehicle (Maruti 800) bearing registration No. JK01H-8720 driven by Sajad Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Ahmad Bhat R/o Gopalsaif Dedmaribagh Chadoora and during search of vehicle recovered one polythene bag containing grinded charas like narcotic substance weighing 1 kg and 700 grams following which the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that in a similar action in Handwara, a police party of Police station Handwara at a checkpoint established at Chotipora intercepted a suspects identified as Khalid Bashir Lone S/o Bashir Ahmed Lone R/o Kahipora Kralgund and during his personal search recovered 100.46 grams of contraband Charas-like substances from the possession of the said accused Police in its statement further said that all the accused werearrested and cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
