A close vigil over the enrollment of minors at driving institutes can obviously break the precedence of driving training among minors across cities and towns in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division.
The launch of a massive crackdown on minor driving during last two months has undoubtedly reduced the trends and tendencies of driving among the minors on Valley roads but still the minors fond of driving tend to enroll for training at the driving institutes during ongoing winter vacation period with the tendency to come out on the roads in the outskirts of Srinagar city and major towns of Kashmir Valley in the peak summer months later. The life risks experienced in minor driving in last two months in Srinagar and major towns of Kashmir Valley necessitate a close vigil over the enrollment of minors at driving institutes both in Srinagar and across other cities and major towns in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. In fact the parents risk the lives of their children at a very young age not only by conceding their demands for two wheelers and private cars but also by accompanying them to the driving institutes for undergoing driving training at a very early stage of their lives. A close vigil over the enrollment of minors at driving institutes can obviously break the precedence of driving training among minors across cities and towns in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. In the chilly months of winter the enrollments of minors for driving training at the driving institutes shows an unprecedented surge due to two and a half month long winter vacation. So the struggle for driving grows among minors unprecedentedly more during two and a half month long winter vacation than in the peak summer months when most of the minors are engaged with their education in schools and coaching at private coaching centers.
“While wisdom demands that parents deny their children the opportunities of enrollment for driving training at private driving institutes in teenage during winter vacation periods, the onus of banning enrollment of minors for driving training at private driving institutes lies equally both on the traffic police and transport departments. The dangerous trend of the enrollments of minors for driving training at private driving institutes if not contained and controlled in time won’t reverse the trends of minor driving in Jammu & Kashmir.”
Interestingly the struggle for driving training for minors becomes more difficult for them during peak winter months when wet and slippery roads are more vulnerable to road accidents even for trained drivers. So a close vigil over the enrollments of minors for driving training at the private driving institutes during winter vacation periods can obviously further reduce the trends of minor driving across cities and towns in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. While wisdom demands that parents deny their children the opportunities of enrollment for driving training at private driving institutes in teenage during winter vacation periods, the onus of banning enrollment of minors for driving training at private driving institutes lies equally both on the traffic police and transport departments.
