Srinagar : To enhance the skills of faculty members in emerging technologies and prepare them for integrating AI into education, a seven-day training program on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was organised by the University of Kashmir (KU).
According to a statement issued from Centre for Public Relations University of Kashmir, Srinagar the program was part of the “AI for Future Workforce” initiative under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University and Intel India to equip faculty with the skills to incorporate AI and enhance employability in the rapidly evolving digital age. The program was conducted in two phases: Phase 1 from 6th to 7th January and Phase 2 from 13th to 17th January.
In her message Vice Chancellor KU Prof Nilofer Khan said “Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the world as we know it, and educators play a crucial role in preparing the next generation for this transformation.”
She added, “This workshop was designed to empower faculty with the knowledge and tools to harness AI effectively, ensuring they remain at the forefront of educational innovation.”
Speaking at the valedictory session, Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, emphasized the critical role of AI in shaping the future workforce.
“This initiative marks a significant step in equipping our educators to embrace the transformative potential of AI. Such training programs not only enhance faculty skills but also lay a strong foundation for preparing ourselves to thrive in a technology-driven world,” he said.
Director IoT, Zakura campus KU, Prof. M. Tariq Banday highlighted the importance of such industrial collaborations.
“This training has provided our faculty with valuable tools to integrate AI into their teaching and research. It is a vital step toward building a robust AI ecosystem within our academic institutions,” he said.
Intel India resource person, Ms. Bhavya Shukla, expressed satisfaction with the dedication shown by the participants.
“The enthusiasm and commitment of the faculty members throughout the training reflect their readiness to embrace AI for innovation and education,” she noted.
Thirty faculty members from the University of Kashmir, SKUAST, and other higher education institutions participated in the training, which featured extensive hands-on sessions led by Intel experts. The initiative highlighted the importance of upskilling educators to meet the demands of the AI-driven landscape and develop a skilled workforce for the future.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Javaid Ahmad Sheikh, faculty member at the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Technology KU, who also delivered the formal vote of thanks.
