2nd Day of ‘Inter Zonal Display Your Talent’ at JU

Jammu : On the 2nd day of ‘Inter-Zonal Display Your Talent 2024-25’ being organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, the events of Classical Vocal Solo, Classical Instrumental P, & N.P., Folk Instrumental, Cartooning, Painting, Installation & Mehandi were conducted at University of Jammu. Prof. Prakash C. Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas, (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Arvind Jasrotia (Rector Kathua Campus) and other dignitaries were present at the occasion.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office University of Jammu here, the new format of Display Your Talent has been envisioned by Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu which has witnessed a larger participation of the students from the far-flung areas. All the affiliated colleges from Jammu province were distributed into 5 Zones; Tawi Zone, Pir- Panjal Zone, Devika Zone, Ravi Zone and Chenab Zone where Zonal Level Display Your Talent competitions were organized and the winners of those competitions are now competing in Inter Zonal Level.
In Classical Vocal, Arpana and Paras from Institute of Music & Fine Arts and Gayatri from GCW Parade were declared First, Second & Third respectively.
In Classical Instrumental Percussion, Navraj Singh from IMFA was declared First whereas in Classical Instrumental Non Percussion, Sobia Kouser and Tashi Dorje from IMFA and Rashi Sharma from GCW Parade stood First, Second & Third respectively.
In Folk Instrumental, Certificate of Merit was awarded to Sunil Kumar from GDC Kathua.
In Cartooning, Ishwariya from IMFA, Rahul from GDC Udhampur and Pankaj Kumar from Udhampur Campus were declared First, Second & Third respectively. Dr. Shelleka Gupta was the teacher incharge of the event.
In Installation, the teams of Poonam Sambyal and Riya Chib from IMFA stood First, Mehak and Palvi from GDC Akhnoor and Vandita nandan from UIET Kathua stood First, Second & Third respectively. Dr. Rajbir Singh Sodhi was the teacher incharge of the event.
In Painting, Shazad Ahmed from IMFA, Shalini Sharma from GDC Akhnoor and Bharti Verma from IMFA were declared First, Second & Third respectively. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Anisha from GDC Ramnagar and Manvi Rathore from GCW Udhampur. Dr. Farah S. Choudhary was the teacher incharge of the event.
In Mehandi, Gurleen Kaur from GDC Bhagwati Nagar, Roshan Kumar from Kathua Campus and Enamika Sharma from Department of Sociology were declared First, Second & Third respectively.
The esteemed adjudicators of the events included (Music) Prof. Harvinder Singh (SNA Awardee), Sh. V.K. Sambyal, Prof. Usha Bagati, Sh. Purshottam Kumar, Mr. Arundeep Singh. (Fine Arts) Sh. Suman Gupta, Sh. M.A. Al Nasir, Ms Reecha Gupta, Ms. Mansi Rattan, Sh Manoj Chopra and Sh. Chander Shekhar.
The events of DSW are conceived, planned and organised by the team consisting of Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Shallu Sharma & Dr. A.R. Manhas (Deputy Chief Proctors), Dr. Harleen Kaur & Dr. Ripudaman Parihar (Assistant Dean, SW), members of Campus Cultural Committee, Ms Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer), Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer). The events were witnessed by the members of Campus Cultural Committee, teachers, students, scholars of the University of Jammu and prominent members of the civil society.
The hall was managed by Sunny Singh, Rohan Sharma, Veranym Sharma, Sheetal Singh, Pawan Kotwal, Deep Uday Singh, Himanshu Angotra, Kanureet Kaur, Suhani Kapoor, Heemanshu Tickoo, Ayush (Departmental Cultural Representatives). Sachin Sharma, Jatinder Singh & R.P. Singh. The sound was looked after by Kulbhushan Thakur and Arif Paul. The winners of the events would be felicitated on 20th January at 4 pm at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
On 19th January, the events of Debate, Elocution, Quiz, Rangoli, Clay Modelling, Photography, Collage and Poster Making would be conducted at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, 10am onwards.
