Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has solved a theft case within hours by arresting an accused involved in the commission of crime and also recovered stolen jewellery from her possession here in Srinagar.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police Station Shaltang received an application from one Aimen Akhzar D/o Peerzada Akhzar Hussain R/o Umerabad Srinagar who alleged therein that during the intervening night of 15th and 16th January some unknown thieves barged into her residential house while her mother and father were outside the country for performing Umrah and stole some jewellery items. Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 04/2025 under relevant section of law was registered at Police Station Shaltang besides initiating investigation.
Stating that during the course of investigation, some suspects were called for questioning and the role of one suspect namely Janatul Begum (working as the maid) W/o Mohd Chotu R/o Ward No. 7 Kusthan Madhepur Bihar A/P HMT Srinagar was ascertained in the commission of crime and later on her disclosure, the stolen Jewellery was recovered Police in its above quoted statement appealed people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearby Police unit or Dial-112 without delay so that prompt action against the culprits will be taken.
