2 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar & Handwara and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Srinagar, a police team of Police Station Soura at a checkpoint established at SKIMS Chowk Soura near Hospital Gate intercepted a suspect identified as Rouf Ahmed Zargar S/o Nazir Ahmed Zargar R/o Manigam Ganderbal and during search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Handwara also, a police team headed by SHO Police Station Kralgund at a checkpoint established at Resripora Kralgund intercepted a suspect identified as Danish Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Hassan Mir R/o Kralgund and during search, 110 grams of contraband charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Stating that both the drug peddlers were arrested besides which cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
