YUVA-2025: SKUAST-K students lift inter University Debate Competition Trophy

Srinagar : SKUAST-K bags best team and best speaker in 18th National Inter University Debate Competition- YUVA organized at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. The team Sairah Jabeen and Ghazifa Chesti of SKUAST-K have made this remarkable achievement of lifting the trophy YUVA-2025. In addition, best speaker award was won by Ms. Ghazifa, first year student of BVSc & AH.
The National Inter University debate competition is a part of YUVA and is organized on 14th and 15th of January each year since 2008. This platform is for youth to discuss and deliberate upon issues of national importance. It gives students an opportunity to critically think analyze and reflect on aspects connected with youth in the national framework.
The topic for 18th national inter University debate was “Government Policies are Capable of Motivating youth towards Entrepreneurship” two segments of the debate were conducted in English and Hindi. A contingent of 04 Students namely Sairah Jabeen, Student of M.Sc Agricultural Economics, Ghazifa Chesti, first year Veterinary student, Chowdhary Siddharth M.Sc Post Harvest Technology and Aditya Jha, undergraduate student of B.Tech Agirculture, with their mentor Dr. Seemi Lohani, represented SKUAST-K.
The winning team was chosen amongst 42 competing teams from all parts of the country. Contestants were judged on 16 intensive parameters including language, diction, choice of words, verbal and non-verbal communication, time managements and rebuttals.
In total 82 participants from 41 Universities, had to speak for and against the motion in a time frame of 5 Minutes followed by a question answer session.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai congratulated the students, Dean Student Welfare, and the student mentors for once again bringing laurels to University at National Level. He attributed the continued winning streek to University’s commitment towards nurturing talent and promoting academic excellence along with extracurricular activities.
Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Neelofar Banday while congratulating the winning students attributing the success to the tireless mentoring of the students by Prof. S.H Baba, Head IBPR, Dr. Seemi Lohani, student welfare officer and Dr. Ambreen Hamadani, Assistant Professor CAIML.
