Gambler arrested in Sopore, stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a gambler in Sopore and recovered stake money from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs regarding gambling activities at Behrampora, a Police team from Police Post Watergam, raided a specific location but noticing the Police, the gambler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, R/o Khaipora Handwara was arrested even after running away from the scene.
Stating that the stake money of ₹8,500 and playing cards were seized from the possession of the said accused Police in its statement further said that a case under the relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Dangiwacha besides initiated further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to report any criminal activities to local law enforcement for prompt action.
