Srinagar : Six individuals have been detained by the Srinagar police for allegedly inciting sectarian unrest through derogatory remarks.
The accused have been sent to Central Jail, Srinagar, as authorities cracked down on actions aimed at disturbing public harmony in Valley.
Police said that it has taken a firm stand against those attempting to exploit sectarian differences, warning that similar behavior will not be tolerated.
“The public is hereby cautioned that any individual found posting or sharing sectarian content with the intent to create division or disturb public harmony will meet the same fate,” said a police spokesperson.
The action follows a rise in complaints about the spread of inflammatory content on social media platforms and public forums. Authorities have intensified monitoring efforts to identify and act against such activities swiftly.
The incident has drawn support from community leaders, who emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and unity in the region. “These actions are necessary to preserve the social fabric of our community,” said a local religious leader.
As investigations continue, the police have urged locals to report any instances of hate speech or divisive content to ensure swift action against perpetrators. This firm response aims to send a clear message: there will be zero tolerance for actions threatening the peace and harmony of Srinagar.
