Jammu : The Directorate of Social Welfare Jammu successfully disbursed pending scholarships to 960 SC Category students under the Centrally Sponsored Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2023-24. Under the remarkable step, the scholarship amount to the tune of Rs. 13.44 lakh already sanctioned but not disbursed due to non-seeding of Aadhaar was credited to the accounts of eligible students, after the Director Social Welfare Jammu intervened and held series of meetings with Bank authorities and District Administrations to solve the issue expeditiously.
The students expressed satisfaction and stressed that timely disbursal would help them purse their education further without any financial constraints.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Social Welfare Department Rupesh Kumar Jammu stated that the department is committed to ensuring that no eligible student is deprived of their rightful benefit. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Deptt, J&K for his unwavering support and guidance throughout the process.
To streamline timely future scholarship disbursements, the directorate has now ensured that Aadhaar seeding is mandatorily done at the time of registration itself on the National Scholarship Portal for both Pre- and Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes. This initiative aims to prevent delays and facilitate timely payments to all eligible students.
The directorate is also actively working to resolve remaining Aadhaar seeding issues on the same lines, and pending applications shall be processed promptly.
