Jammu: Police in Jammu Jammu Police on Tuesday achieved a major success with the apprehension of a drug peddler and the recovery of 23.59 grams of heroin-like substance.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office, Jammu Police said that a Police Party from Police Post Canal Road, led by ASI Surinder Singh, was performing patrolling duty when they noticed a pedestrian coming from Javed Nagar towards the 4th Tawi Bridge, adding therein that upon noticing the police, the individual attempted to conceal his presence, raising suspicion but the suspect was apprehended, and during a search, 23.59 grams of chitta (heroin) like substance was recovered from the possession of the said identified as Zuez Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Khrew Pulwama, Kashmir.
Police in its statement further said that in connection with the arrest, a case under FIR No. 08/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Nowabad, marking a decisive step in the fight against drug trafficking, adding therein that the arrest and recovery were made by Police Sub-Inspector Darshan Singh, under the supervision of Inspector Deepak Pathania, SHO P/S Nowabad, Sh. Ashok Kumar, DSP Headquarters, and Vivek Shekhar, SP City North Jammu.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people and civil society members to actively participate in eradicating this scourge and protect thw future generations from the dangers of drugs.
