Intense cold continues in Kashmir, Srinagar shivers at minus 7.6 degree C, snow and rain likely from Jan 22

Srinagar, Jan 14 The minimum temperatures across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh dipped significantly, with some areas experiencing severe cold.

The meteorological department official said that In Kashmir, Srinagar recorded -4.2°C, Qazigund -5.6°C, Pahalgam -7.8°C, Kupwara -4.7°C, Kokernag -3.4°C, Gulmarg -6.2°C, and Sonamarg -7.8°C. Bandipora, Baramulla, and Budgam reported -3.6°C, -3.0°C, and -4.4°C, respectively. Pulwama registered -5.0°C, Anantnag -5.2°C, Khudwani -5.8°C, Kulgam -5.7°C, Shopian -6.7°C, and Larnoo -8.2°C, while Ganderbal’s temperature remains unrecorded.

In the Jammu region, Jammu recorded 6.4°C, Banihal 2.0°C, Batote 2.5°C, Katra 6.6°C, Bhaderwah -0.1°C, Kishtwar 2.8°C, Padder -4.4°C, Ramban 7.7°C, Poonch 4.3°C, Rajouri 2.7°C, Samba 2.5°C, Kathua 7.0°C, Reasi 5.3°C, and Udhampur 4.3°C, he said.

Ladakh’s Leh recorded -11.6°C, Kargil -12.6°C, and Drass -21.8°C, making it one of the coldest regions in the area.

The weather department has predicted mostly dry and cloudy weather till 19th Jan.
