GDC Marh celebrates National Youth Day

Jammu : To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda the Viksit Bharat Committee and NSS unit Government Degree College Marh, under the aegis of Higher education department, celebrated National Youth Day by organizing plethora of activities under the supervision Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Koul.
The Principal of the college, in his profound speech, said that Swami Vivekananda was a spiritual leader and youth icon. “This day serves as a call to action for young minds to embrace their potential and contribute to building a better future” he said and added”His timeless message will continue to inspire the youth to lead with courage and conviction.”
To inseminate the sense of selfless service among the students, as Shramdaan Mahadhan is a noble endeavor that embodies the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, a cleanliness drive was organized on the campus in which NSS volunteers collected waste with proper segregation and disposal of the waste.
Meanwhile a movie was screened for students by Anjana Chib (Convener Viksit Bharat Committee) showcasing the biography and indispensable teachings of Swami Vivekananda such as Compassion, Optimism, Faith, Humor, and Mindfulness which will help youth to inculcate the qualities such as self-reliance, self- discipline, courage and inner strength among the present youth so that they can achieve the greater goal.
Programme was also posted on “My Bharat Portal” by Sachin Kumar Bhagat (NSS PO&HOD Political science). My Bharat Portal is a vital initiative promoting patriotism, nationalism, and community service. It fosters national unity, community spirit, and civic engagement, empowering Youth to contribute to national development. By encouraging volunteerism and community service, the portal helps develop leadership skills, promotes civic awareness, and supports education, health, and environmental conservation. College has registered a total of 87 Volunteers on the portal.
Later, the students and faculty of the college attended the live streaming of the National Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Shakun Sharma (HOD Sociology).
Other faculty members present during the event was Prof. Asha Kumari (HOD Geography), Dr. Priya Sharma and Prof. Surbhi Gupta. The technical support was provided by Mohit Kalotra (MTS).
